We transport your goods safely and efficiently from the North Sea ports to Italy
From road to rail – this is the philosophy with which SBB Cargo International successfully operates on the north-south corridor every day. By continuously shifting thousands of net tonnes of goods every week, we are doing pioneering work in freight transport.
Our company operates block trains for operators and freight forwarders from loading point to unloading point or from terminal to terminal. As a subsidiary of SBB and market leader in the north-south corridor through the Swiss Alps, we connect the North Sea ports with the most important economic hubs in Italy, thus offering our customers a seamless freight transport solution. In addition, we do selected domestic traffic (Switzerland / Germany / Italy), too.

Range of Services offered by SBB Cargo International
Rail freight transport consists of combined transport, conventional block trains and single wagonload transport. As SBB Cargo International, we offer our customers both combined transport and conventional block trains.

Combined Transport
Combined transport is a form of intermodal freight transport in which loading units such as truck semitrailers, containers and swap bodies are transported in pre- or onward carriage to rail by road or water.
«Rola» – Rolling Highway
The Rolling Highway «Rola» is a form of accompanied combined transport by rail. In short: a train on which road vehicles are transported.
Special low-floor wagons are used for the Rola. The drivers travel comfortably in additionally attached accompanying carriages (sleeping cars).
Conventional Block Trains
Conventional block trains are trains used to transport bulk cargo such as gravel or chemicals. We also transport new cars in this category.
